Terms of service

The agreement between you and us when you use JoltQuiz. Players who only join a quiz need read no further than section 7; everything else is about running an account.

1. Who we are

JoltQuiz is provided by Spooky Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17479524, registered office 12 Oak Close, Bedworth, CV12 9AJ ("we", "us"). Contact us at [email protected].

By creating an account or buying a plan you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy.

2. Your account

3. Plans and payment

4. Cancelling

5. Your quizzes and content

6. Fair use

Do not:

API keys on paid plans are for automating your own account.

7. Playing a quiz

Players need no account. Choose a nickname you are happy to have on a big screen, play fairly, and keep chat friendly: hosts can remove players and messages, and offensive names are blocked. Any prizes are the host's, under the host's own rules — not ours.

8. Data processing for hosts

When you run a quiz, you decide who plays and what you ask, so you are the controller of your players' information and we process it for you. Under UK data protection law (Article 28 UK GDPR) we agree to:

You confirm you have a lawful basis for the information you bring in, for example customer references sent by your own website's player links.

9. The service

10. Our responsibility to you

11. Suspending or ending your account

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where we must by law. Where we reasonably can, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we close a paid account without it being your fault, we refund the unused part of the month.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will email account holders at least 30 days before it applies. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then.

13. The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to its courts — except that consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland can also bring proceedings in their own courts. If something goes wrong, please email us first; most things can be sorted out quickly.
